Professional Licensing Defense Lawyers
Obtaining a professional license can require years of intensive study. Establishing a professional reputation can take decades of hard work and dedication. Yet, a single claim or complaint can put your license to practice your profession and your ability to earn a living in jeopardy.
Proudly Defending Professionals of All Kinds
At Hansen, McClintock & Riley in Des Moines, our professional licensing attorneys are proud to defend clients against claims of violation of professional ethics or standards. We regularly represent clients whose professional licenses have been challenged, denied, revoked or suspended.
We represent clients in administrative hearings before their professional licensing boards. Our professional licensing practice encompasses individual professionals and professional services organizations, including:
- Lawyers and law firms
- Doctors
- Nurses
- Dentists
- Hospitals, nursing homes and clinics
- Mental health professionals
- Pharmacists
- Realtors
- Insurance agents
- Architects and design professionals
- Engineers
- Stockbrokers and financial planners
- Certified public accountants (CPAs)
State licensing boards and other licensing organizations have become increasingly sensitive to complaints against professionals of all types. Some claims that once would have been dismissed as obviously lacking in merit are now being taken seriously.
Boards Take Ethics Violation Claims Seriously
The ethics committee of the Iowa State Bar Association, for example, now considers double the number of ethics violation claims as it did just a few years ago. The number of total claims has not risen, but fewer claims are dismissed without a hearing and investigation.
